Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
Do we rely on our own strength to do the tasks before us? Do we forget that God's strength is greater than ours? Ex. 15:2 says, "The LORD is my strength" Jeremiah 17:5 says, "Thus says the LORD: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength." In Proverbs 10:29 we find "The way of the LORD is strength for the upright." What does it mean to have the Lord as our strength?
The psalmist in Psalm 20: 6-8 says "Now this I know:
The LORD gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary
with the victorious power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm."
The key is that we trust God's wisdom and might more than our own ideas or capacity. In fact it is often in our WEAKNESS that God shows His perfect strength. The Lord tells Paul in 2 Cor. 12: 9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." And in 1 Corinthians 1:25 we learn that "the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength."
Do we appear "foolish" in the eyes of the world when we ask Him to be our strength, to direct our simplest decisions? Then we might be on the right track....
