Note from the Executive Director:

I may be somewhat biased, but I thought the banquet was an exceptional evening, perhaps the best we’ve held over the course of my tenure as director.

As I reflected on what made it such a delight, I zeroed in on one aspect after another and they were all top notch – the broad and united church representation, the décor, the food, the service, the music, the speakers, the generous offering and more. But, I was particularly sensitive to the fact that the Lord was there in our midst – and it was that presence that made the real difference.

The over-riding theme was a commitment to Jesus’ perspective on how to serve, which was so passionately addressed by Dr. Sherman

There were a number of “gems” offered by Dr. Sherman, but I’ll just hit her “headlines” in ferreting out what the Love INC ministry is really all about. Importantly, each aspect was made pertinent as she showed how it was an integral part of the ministry of Jesus. Indeed, she encouraged us to really take a look at how Jesus responded to needs and to emulate Him.

She began by telling us that “the ‘one’ matters, that every individual is significant.” She followed that up with the challenge that it is critical to personalize – to listen attentively, to display gentleness and thoughtful care that is customized to the individual. Then, Dr. Sherman drew on John 17 as the incentive to serve in unity, “shoulder to shoulder,” as one. And finally, she encouraged us to serve from the perspective of abundance, reminding us that “He is enough, more than enough.”

As a final thought, I want to thank those who participated for showing their support for this ministry. And, as a faithful minister of His grace, I want to encourage you to join us in prayer that we will continue to serve the poor and needy in our community with the same perspective as that of Jesus!

Yours in Christ’s love,

Raymond H. Klein, Jr.
